A Day in the Life of Me......
I do it because I have to.

I was getting my hair cut today, down the block from my office. The stylist washes my hair, sits me down, and takes a short look at the picture I give her. She then asks, " What would you like?". Are you serious? I would like to look like Brittney Spears!

So, I state in my usual, casual demeanor, "Please just cut it so that it's fast and easy to fix in the morning. I have three kids to dress every day as well as my self." She then gives me this totally blank stare and her mouth drops open. She holds the comb away from my head. Maybe she's afraid that I won't pay her? I'm not quite sure. "You have THREE kids!!! You don't look old enough to have ANY!" Yeah Lady, I've never heard that one before. Well, I have to give her credit considering that I look like I'm about eighteen instead of twenty-six. I love freckles! She then asks, "How do you do it?" I cannot count the times I have been asked that question.

How do I do it?

Well, funny you should ask, I don't! When I get us all home, I climb over the mountain of laundry in my living room to get to the kitchen. While in there, I pull only the dishes I need out of the sink and wash them seperately. After burning dinner because I spent an extra 15 minutes outside trying to get my kids to stop wrapping the garden hose around the tree in the front yard, we eat.

Oh, for a dinner that doesn't consist of my toddler throwing her food on the floor, my four year-old eating only two bites after I beg her repeatedly to, "Sit down and eat your dinner.", and my seven year-old son reapeating all of the things his father said about me that weekend. We finish our nice, family dinner and it's Bathtime, or as I like to call it, "Let's see if we can make a lake in the bathroom!"

I then, send my damp children to bed, only after I give them each 10 kisses and hugs. I attempt to fold clothes while my sweet toddler screams for a half hour. Then, the phone rings. When finished talking to my mom (about me), my boyfriend (about us), my sister (about herself, of course), and my best friend (about all of them), I finally get to crash into my bed!

The best part is: I get to do it all again tomorrow!

No I mean it. Wanna date? I'll bring my 2 kids and maybe if things work out well you can watch them for me, til they're 18. Lol. Kidding. I love mine as much as you do yours. Peace.

If you had one more, we could be "like" the brady bunch! Only.... with disobedience, ex-spouses, and reality thrown in the mix.

If I didn't laugh at myself, I'd go crazy!

I think most working parents have similar lives.  I feel like I have about 5 minutes a night to get everything done.  By the time you get home, make dinner, get the kid(s) to eat, through some water in hopes to clean them, then into their PJ's, it seems like the entire day is shot and you didn't have nearly enough time just sitting on the couch reading them a story.

My house is a bit messy, but I don't care.  The work will always be there- but my daughter won't always be little.

Great article. Sometimes people can be so nosy, and it bothers me. Sounds like you handle it well.

I agree, and weekends are just spent trying to catch up! People tell me all the time that I should go out sometimes and do things for myself. Yeah, right! When was the last time I let someone watch the kids without worrying about them the whole time I was away?

I concur Mrs. Brady.

I worry more about the people WATCHING my kids than my kids! Just kidding! They're good kiddos. I love them very much.

(Geez! I just figured the "quote" thing out!)

He might if he doesn't watch it, right? )

That's exactly what I say when I pick watching a movie together over washing the kitchen floor.
